Movie Synopsis:
Ghost Rider is a superhero movie adaptation of the Marvel comic of the same name.
The backstory begins in the American Old West, where Mephistopheles sends the Ghost Rider his ‘bounty hunter for the damned’ to find and bring to him a contract for a thousand corrupt souls. Because it would cause hell on earth to release them, Ghost rider escapes with the contract and goes into hiding.

Years later, young motorcycle stunt rider Johnny Blaze inadvertently makes a deal with Mephistopheles when a drop of his blood accidently falls on a contract offered to cure his fathers cancer in exchange for Johnny’s soul, setting the firey wheels in motion for his becoming the new Ghost Rider. He woke up the next day to discover Mephistopeles had kept his part of the deal, his Father was cancer free, but on the same day, dies in a tragic motor cycle crash during a stunt. Tormented and feeling betrayed, Johnny leaves town without his girlfriend Roxanne and continues in his father’s footsteps becoming a very famous motorcycle stunt rider, miraculously surviving the most dangerous stunts.
When Mephistopheles’ son Blackheart comes to earth with his demon spirit allies ‘The Hidden’ to find the lost contract with the intention of overpowering his father, he makes Johnny the Ghost Rider and offers to return his soul in exchange for defeating Blackheart. A reluctant Johnny experiences the first transformation of himself and his motorbike into the flaming skulled one, Ghost Rider and the Hell Cycle, and proceeds to have supernatural battles with Blackheart and his allies as he struggles to come to terms with what is happening to him and to take some control of his new supernatural powers, which include the ‘Penance stare’, a stare that penetrates into the soul of the victim forcing them to relive their wrongdoings and killing them with their own remorse.

Johnny finds an ally in ‘the caretaker’ who assists him in surprising ways on his ultimate path to defeat Blackheart but not before his dreams of reconciling with Roxanne are put in danger.
Will he succeed in defeating Blackheart, getting back his soul, and reuniting with his long lost love Roxanne? Or will Johnny find himself on another road?

Interesting Facts:
It was Nicolas Cage’s idea that Johnny Blaze would be eating jelly beans from a martini glass and listening to Karen Carpenter rather than him being a “hard drinking and smoking badass”, because he felt the character would be doing everything he could to avoid dealing with his ‘contract’ and keeping the evil forces at bay.
