After a promised legitimate job falls through and seeing that life on ‘the other side’ is no less seedy, Sonny eventually returns to the life he knows best, much to the delight of his Mother Jewel and his former customers, but dashing the private hopes of his father that he could escape the family business once and for all. While Sonny was away Jewel employed a beautiful young woman Carol to work for her and she and Sonny soon fall in love and begin to do jobs together as a couple.
