Movie Synopsis:
The Weatherman is a ‘dramedy’ about the downwards spiralling life of newly separated Chicago weather man Dave Spritz, who has a successful career as a tv presenting weather man, but doesn’t quite have his life together; symbolised by him being the target for the dissatisfied weather watching fast food throwing public.
Having unsuccessful relationships with his ex wife, children and his writer father, he tries to get his personal life back on track, but his wife files for divorce, his dad is diagnosed with cancer, his son becomes unwittingly involved with a paedophile and his daughter takes up smoking and after reluctantly agreeing to his offers of taking her to archery lessons, rejects the idea at the same time as injuring her leg while he takes her ice skating.
As he hones his own skills in archery, aiming ever more precisely for the target, can Dave gain the respect of his father, help his children, improve his relationship with his wife, advance in his career and turn his life around?

Nicolas Cage Movie Quote:
“I wanted to make a family drama. I think that’s the genre in which you can do the most good, making a film about people that you can relate to. It’s also the hardest kind of movie you can make. It can collapse into saccharine, or be this hallmark card-like, or be an episodic T.V. show. I don’t want that at all. So in my goal to make a family drama and also my artistic aspirations to do something a little edgy, I found a really happy marriage with The Weather Man. Because Gore went outside the box to do something personal and artistic. “
